Every year my Italian friends spend their summer in southern Italy, specifically Leche. They told me stories about how amazing it was, and showed me pictures, but I thought, I would rather to go to Ibiza. To be honest, I have never travelled to the southern part of Italy, or any other city besides Florance and Sicilly for that matter. While I would love to go to Rome and/or Milan, that somehow never happened.
Anyways, I had a transit in Rome, unfortunately to short to leave the airport, so I roamed around the airport in search for food and shops. As I was feeling a bit hungry, I wanted to have dinner. However, because I eat very healthy, it is always very difficult for me to find a place to eat. Nevertheless, after walking around for a while, I found a place and the food was amazing. Honestly, I was surprised by the quality of food they serve, definitely the best airport food I have ever had. Southern cultures have so much more love for food and taste, I love it!
Finally when I arrived in Leche, we went for a walk through town. It really is a beautiful city and they even have a small Colosseum, compared to the one in Rome I guess. The other days we spend by going to different beaches and having amazing dinners. One night we went to a restaurant inside of a cave, called Grotto Palazzese, which is elected for being one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world and it rightfully is.
On my last day we made a boat trip, and when we arrived in the harbor, I was stunned by it’s beauty. It was in the city of Monopoli and it felt like we had walked into a scene of Game of Thrones. It was so gorgeous that it looked almost unreal. The most amazing part is, there are only locals and therefore it’s completely untouched.
If you ever have a change of going here, please do so, discover Italy and be amazed. I truly fell in love with it, Lo amo I’Italia.
